Infrared BBQs
Next
time you are at a store that sells grills, be sure to check out the
differences between an infrared BBQ and its natural gas, electric, and
charcoal counterparts. While some of them may look the same and while
they do perform the same basic function, they are very different. They
cook food in very different ways.
An infrared BBQ uses radiation to cook the food. Other types of grills
heat the air which, in turn, heats the food through a process of convection,
but an infrared BBQ directly heats the food. The heat is uniformly distributed
across the food.
When it comes to searing, infrared is the way to go. Temperatures can
easily reach 700 degrees, and food can quickly and easily be seared.
Searing beef is a great way to both lock in juices and ensure that it
is safe to eat.
The very first infrared BBQ technology was patented by Tec Infrared,
but this patent expired in 2000, and now many companies are making these
fast-cooking BBQs. The technology continues to improve as companies
compete to create the best BBQs possible.
